Kids Martial Arts
Built For Progress.
Structured martial arts training for children and teenagers aged 4–15. Develop real skills, confidence, discipline and fitness in a focused training environment led by experienced coaches.
Give Them Skills They Can Build On
At 313, children's martial arts isn't treated as an hour of entertainment to keep kids busy.
Our classes are structured around learning, repetition, development and progression. Children are taught how to listen, practise, work with training partners and gradually improve their ability over time.
Whether your child wants to become more active, build confidence, learn a martial art or eventually compete, the aim is the same: give them a strong foundation and a positive environment in which they can develop.
What We Focus On
Martial arts gives children a challenge they can physically experience, practise and improve at.
Kids Classes At Leyton
Different martial arts develop different skills. Your child doesn't need to know which one is right before starting — a trial class is the easiest way to find the best fit.
Karate
A structured striking martial art developing technique, coordination, control, discipline and progression through a traditional grading system.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Learn positional control, escapes, takedown awareness and submission grappling while developing problem-solving, resilience and confidence.
Muay Thai
Learn stance, movement, punches, kicks and defensive skills through technical drills, padwork and age-appropriate partner training.
Boxing
Develop footwork, punching technique, defence, reactions, conditioning and confidence through structured boxing training.
Wrestling
Build balance, athleticism and body control while learning takedowns, positioning, movement and the fundamentals of grappling.
No-Gi Grappling
Fast-paced grappling without the traditional gi, combining wrestling movement, positional skills and practical ground control.
Different Ages. Different Needs.
A four-year-old and a fourteen-year-old shouldn't be coached in exactly the same way. Our programme uses age-appropriate classes so children can learn at the right level and progress as they develop.
Build The Foundation
Early classes focus heavily on listening, movement, balance, coordination, simple technique and becoming comfortable within a structured martial arts environment.
Build The Skills
As children develop, training becomes more technical. They learn combinations, positions, partner drills, decision-making and how to apply skills with greater control.
Build The Athlete
Older students can progress into increasingly challenging technical training, physical preparation and — where appropriate — competition pathways.
Individual age ranges vary between disciplines and classes. Please check the Leyton timetable before booking.
Development That Goes Beyond The Mats
We don't promise that martial arts magically changes a child overnight. What it does provide is an environment where useful habits are practised consistently.
Confidence
Confidence built through learning difficult skills, improving and seeing genuine progress.
Discipline
Children learn to listen, follow instruction, practise and take responsibility for their training.
Fitness
Martial arts develops cardiovascular fitness, strength, coordination, agility and general athletic ability.
Resilience
Training teaches children that not everything works first time — improvement comes through practice and persistence.
Social Skills
Partner training encourages communication, respect, teamwork and learning how to train safely with others.
Progression
Students have something to work towards as their technical ability and understanding develop over time.
Starting Is Simple
You don't need to buy everything or commit to a membership before knowing whether the class is right for your child.
Choose A Trial
Select an appropriate class for your child's age and book their trial before attending.
Experience The Class
They meet the coach, experience the training environment and take part in a genuine class.
Choose Their Path
If the class is suitable, you can then choose the membership and weekly training frequency that works for them.
Uniform & Equipment
Once your child joins, the correct club uniform and relevant training equipment are compulsory. Children's class equipment must meet our club safety requirements and is supplied directly through 313.
Parents During Classes
To allow coaches and students to train in a focused environment, parents and guardians are not permitted within the training area while children's classes are taking place.
Kids Memberships
Choose from one, two, three or four classes per week depending on your child's programme and availability. View the dedicated membership page for current prices, joining information and terms.
Before Their First Class
What ages do you accept?
Our children's martial arts programme covers ages 4–15. Exact age groups vary depending on the martial art and individual class, so please check the Leyton timetable when choosing a session.
Does my child need previous martial arts experience?
No. Beginners are welcome. Coaches introduce skills progressively and will help new students understand the basic movements, terminology and class structure.
Which martial art should my child choose?
There isn't one correct answer. Some children naturally enjoy striking arts such as Karate, Boxing or Muay Thai, while others prefer grappling through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Wrestling. Their trial class is often the easiest way to see what they respond to.
Can my child train more than one martial art?
Yes, where suitable classes and spaces are available. Our multi-class memberships allow children to attend more than one weekly session, which can also give them exposure to different martial arts.
Do we need to buy equipment before the trial?
Don't purchase a full training kit before confirming that the chosen class is suitable. Once your child joins, the required club uniform and relevant equipment become compulsory. Requirements differ by discipline.
Can parents stay and watch the class?
Parents and guardians are not permitted inside the training area while children's classes are taking place. This helps create a focused environment for students and coaches.
How often can my child train?
Children's memberships are available for different weekly training frequencies. The best option depends on the classes your child chooses, their age and available spaces.
